That’s because our Handrail Systems feature the same exclusive heavyweight PVC veneers (12-16mil) used in our highly respected Molding and Wainscot Systems. These beautiful veneers are laminated through a process of heat and pressure to Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF).This process provides all the key properties of real wood without the drawbacks of shrinkage, splitting, sap streaks, or knots. Unlike wood rails, SpecTrimŽ Handrails install easily, won’t warp, and the joints remain tight throughout varying conditions of temperature change and aging. Perfect for nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living or any health care application, SpecTrimŽ Handrails feature an anti-microbial finish and cleans easily. Choose from our standard size handrail (11/2"x 51/2") stocked in popular Oak, Maple, and Medium Cherry finishes. You can also choose from the entire SpecTrimŽ color line. Unlike solid wood or metal rails that require advance field dimensions and specific part numbers, SpecTrimŽ Handrail System makes installation easy by field sizing all lengths and adding finished ends. Wall returns and finished end caps are shipped loose to your site. We offer a dowel location template that lets you drill attachment dowel holes after your handrails have been sized. You will use this same method to join the various lengths together. Insert three dowels and glue the ends to assemble. The result is a simple-to-install-system...a beautiful, high-quality product that offers great advantages over wood: improved durability, superior color consistency, tighter joints, and lower costs.
